surprises!

I love surprises and I love my husband. I swear no one does surprises as good as him. When I was in Mesa helping my mom out Ethan was at home in Thatcher working. It was our first time being away from each other overnight since being married and I admit it was difficult. We had talked on the phone and he said he was happy that I was away for a couple of days so that he could actually surprise me with something he has been planning. So it came time to go home and  as we were pulling into our backyard I saw that Ethan had gotten me a lounge chair that I could layout on. It was just what I needed! I had been wanting to layout and get a tan in the mornings but I didn't have anything to lay on except a towel and the last time I did that a lizard ran across my face... Anyway I was just so happy that he had took the time to surprise me with something I really wanted. But the surprises are not over... what do you need when laying out in the sun?? A hat, sunglasses, water, sunblock, and a ................NOOK!!!! Thats right my husband got me the new Nook Color!! Best surprise EVER! He is so great! I love him so much!Ever since then I have been reading books on my Nook like crazy! And the people who say you cannot read the Nook in sunlight you are WRONG! It works perfect in the sun. Ah I am so grateful to have the most wonderful husband in the world...he spoils me way too much!

Fabulous Finds!

Okay, not to brag but I am so proud of myself and the furniture I have gotten the last couple of weeks. I will first start off with the one that cost the cheapest. When my husband Ethan was single he rented a home that him and his friends lived in throughout all of last year. When Ethan left none of his friends would take over so he just had to keep the bills under his name. A couple of weeks ago the boys needed to be moved out and most of the boys just got up and left...without cleaning or taking some of their things. The house was a complete disaster. I decided to go over and clean the house so that it would take some stress off of Ethan. The last two boys in the home were still moving out..they helped clean like one room out of three. I did the bathrooms, the rooms, and the kitchen. One of the boys offered to pay me but I refused and instead took a piece of old furniture that one of the boys had left behind! I was sooo excited! I love free furniture! The only problem is finding a place in my small home to put it. I think I am going to start selling the furniture that I re-do. ANYWAY I took the old wood nightstand dresser and painted it a light teal, distressed it and put bright new knobs on it! I love it!

After

The second piece of furniture I got was a mirror. I have been looking every where for a big mirror to open up the space in our home. I was down in Mesa a couple of weeks ago and I told my mom how I was looking around for one. We decided to go do some thrift store shopping and found it in our first store! The only problem was that it was fifty dollars...no wonder why no one had bought it yet. We were so upset that goodwill was charging us fifty dollars for a used mirror. Then my mom saw a sign in the store that said half off the entire store on Saturday! So the next morning we got up at eight thirty and headed down to the goodwill just before it opened at nine. There was a LINE outside of the store! My mom dropped me off just as the doors were opening and people were running inside to get what they wanted. For a second I thought I was at Disneyland...racing people to get to a ride. I ran to the back of the store and grabbed my mirror! I swear I could see people giving me the evil eye for taking the mirror. I was so proud of myself! We checked out and I got the mirror for twenty five dollars! Later I looked at the back of the mirror and I found out it was from pier one and had originally cost one hundred and fifty dollars! What a great deal! It was originally a shiny black and I painted it a red and distressed it. Lately I have this obsession with pops of red in my home. Like my big red dresser in my living room! Anyway...I just had to share my fabulous finds with everyone. I am so glad on how they turned out! Hope you like them!( I don't have a before picture for this one...sorry!)

A Good Week

This last week and a half Ethan and I were able to have a visitor stay at our home. If you know me than you know how much I love my "little sister" Brynn! Thanks to my mom and Patsy they let me take Brynn for a week and a half. We had so much fun together. We did all of Brynn's favorite things: eat, watch Disney movies, make weird noises at each other, shopping, eat, more Disney movies and some more weird noises! I have known Brynn for about seven years. She is practically my little sister. She took my spot in the family and my bedroom when I left for college. Although Brynn is down syndrome she is one of my best friends. I dont know what I would do without her. Yes, when its time for me to give her a bath or wake her up for church she can be super stubborn and sassy. But I can honestly say that I love to do those little things for her. I know that if roles were reversed she would step in and give me a bath or do my hair for church. I cannot explain the love I have for Brynn. I cannot wait for the day that Brynn and I will meet in the hereafter and talk and laugh about the things we did here on earth. I am so grateful for the relationship I have with Brynn! Brynnee boo thanks for being such a great friend to me and for spending the weekend at mine and Ethan's home! We love you!

We only took three pictures the whole week she was here. Here are some of the pictures we have shared through the years.

The only three pictures we took this weekend:
We cleaned out the spare bedroom and made it a guest room for Brynn. She loved having her own little room in our home!
One of her favorite things to do.....EAT!
